About Us

Bridge to Support is a service delivered by Health in Mind for survivors in Scotland of childhood abuse by a Jesuit, a member of their staff, or a volunteer

Health in Mind is an independent Scottish mental health charity based in Edinburgh. We’ve been promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in Scotland since 1982. Our hopeful and caring approach supports and empowers each person to live the life they want to live. We offer flexibility and choice through our range of services and support people to make changes and improve their quality of life.

We are a trauma-informed organisation, which means all our staff have an understanding of the impact trauma can have on survivors who are seeking support. We have specialist experience supporting survivors of abuse and our staff have the knowledge and skills to make a positive difference to the lives of those who have been impacted by trauma.

Who will I speak to?

Ruth Giblin – Engagement Officer

I’m Ruth and I’ll be the first person you speak to when you call. You can ask me any questions you have about the service and I will do my best to answer them for you.

When we first speak I’ll need to clarify that Bridge to Support is the right service for you, however, I won’t be asking you to provide proof. You also won’t be expected to have any contact with the Society of Jesus at any point in the process.

You’re free to go at your own pace when we talk. If you’d like to engage with the service I can take some information from you, but equally, if you don’t feel ready to share your name or contact details at that stage, or if you’d like to take some more time to think about it, that’s okay too.

Ideally, we’ll be able to have a conversation, either over the phone or in person at our Edinburgh office, where we can discuss what kind of support you’d like to receive and what you want to get out of it. From here we can help arrange this support in whatever form it takes.

I look forward to speaking with you when you’re ready.
